Kandeo History

In Latin, Kandeo (candeo) means “Grow Brilliant” which perfectly sums up our firm’s mission. Kandeo seeks to make its assets shine and grow brilliantly; firstly in financial results, and secondly in social and environmental key impact indicators. Over the past decade, we've built a robust platform, establishing a strong presence in key regional markets and forging strategic partnerships that have enabled us to navigate the complexities of these dynamic economies.

Launch and Regional Foundation.

Kandeo Private Equity was established in 2010  with a vision to bridge the gap between global capital and the immense potential of Latin America's emerging markets. In 2011, the firm launched its first Private Equity fund, guided by a focused investment thesis: to invest in companies that provide financial services to individuals and small to medium-sized businesses often overlooked by traditional banking systems in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Building on the original investment thesis, Kandeo continued to focus on financial service providers addressing underserved individuals and SMEs. This consistent strategy attracted a broader base of global institutional investors, validating the firm's mission and expanding its footprint. As a result, Kandeo grew its assets under management to nearly US$380 million, reinforcing its role as a key regional player in impact-driven private equity across Latin America..

Expansion into Private Debt & Asset Management Evolution

Leveraging our deep expertise and strong track record in financial services, Kandeo evolved from a Private Equity firm into a fully integrated Asset Manager. This transition was marked by the launch of our Private Debt practice, including a Senior Secured Private Debt Fund, and the development of an innovative, bankruptcy-remote, tech-enabled trust structure designed to issue credit-insured, FX-hedged notes.
